Blind Eye

by: Hesper Yau

medium: acrylic

The eyeless man depicted this acrylic portrait is a representation of every man who turns a “blind eye” and chooses to not speak out against topics of sexual harassment and assault; those who remain friends with and support abusers and refuse to call out other men for their despicable actions. In reality, what most men must come to realize is that while being open to having difficult conversations may seem daunting and unocomfortable, it is an essential step to becoming a better feminist ally. I hope to see more men willing to listen, sympathize, and support sexual assault victims, and raising their voices for what is right.
