FLUX

words from the artist 💌

"these digital and 35mm film images were taken in crema, italy; brooklyn ny; and washington dc, over the course of three years. i’ve been fixated on the idea of the vehicle as an extension of the self; as a representation of one’s identity within their city and community. in crema, individuals of all ages get around via personally owned bicycle or scooter, crossing paths in front of the cathedral. in new york, transportation mostly is shared, between the subway or citi bikes. there’s an inherent community aspect to these means of transportation, even if the commuters keep to themselves. these images are a story about being in flux, getting from one point to another, and still having a sense of self, as an individual within the context of community, as a guide."
